[Amazon.com | The Coen Brothers Movie Collection (Fargo / Miller’s Crossing / Barton Fink / Raising Arizona / Blood Simple)] Any ONE of these movies is worth that alone. (NOTE: link is to my Amazon affiliate page. You don’t pay any more, but I get a small cut for linking to it.)
Hulu - The Girl Next Door →
I saw this one in the theater with my wife a few years back; I remember being pleasantly surprised by it. Cute, a bit raunchy, but lots of fun.

(Much stress recently) + (lots of food) = holycrapivegained20lbs.
So, I’ve learned this week that STRESS is a huge food trigger for me. Which explains a LOT.

[essenmitsosse - Realistically Painted Bowser] An interesting, if disturbing, illustration of Bowser from the Super Mario games if he were depicted with a bit more realism: (image goes to Digg link) (found via Digg)
Why Linux doesn't matter. At least, not yet. →
[The Great Ubuntu-Girlfriend Experiment « Content Consumer] A great experiment where an experienced Linux (Ubuntu, in this case) user has his ‘average user’ girlfriend try to use Linux for everyday tasks. Short version: FAIL Long version: I think the ‘girlfriend,’ just by virtue of being with this Linux guy, knows more than most average (read: consumer level) users...
2nd (1st) LOLcat
‘SPLAIN: my 2nd submission to ICHC, but the last one was a bug. This one is technically the first LOLcat I’ve submitted. Enjoy: moar funny pictures NOTE: this one is also an original photo, albeit from a few years back. This is our cat, Milo.
I'm glad I'm not -- oh, that's right. Nevermind. →
[BBC NEWS | Americas | Has US abstinence policy failed?] I saw the statistics referenced in this article a few months ago (25% of all US teen girls have at least one STD), and I immediately thought, “Damn. I’m glad I’m not a teenager these days.” Then I thought, “Well, I wasn’t exactly Mr. Gigolo in high school anyhow, so what would it have mattered?”...
I effin love this MBP
fzerox: Yea so I know I have been slacking on posting. As y’all know, I finally got my MacBook Pro.. and I’m fcukin’ in love! I can do so many cool things on this, I’m learning more and more every day and I get giddy as a school girl playing with it! I am such a dork! (sigh) I am very jealous of you. I was looking forward to getting one this Spring, as well. Oh, well…maybe later.
The Music Industry Sucks →
[Does She Look Like a Music Pirate? | BusinessWeek] A disturbing look at the RIAA’s bully legal tactics by BusinessWeek. ======= Here’s my question for the RIAA: Which do you think would cost less (in both cash and PR / good will): Extorting money from your customer base by continuing on this scorched earth copyright infringement campaign, whether or not they’re actually guilty?...
Decompressing from the day.

Just a reminder that I’ve launched a new website. It’s a community tumblelog about examples of stupidity / idiocy / general dumb-ness that you find on the intarwebs, so if you find something and want to pass it along, feel free to sumbit it via the main page.

Very interesting grassroots-style news channel. Link above is to their ‘mission statement’ video, but also check out the front page.
Just signed up for last.fm, to see what the hoopla’s about.
Mom move-out, Round 2: I lingered too long waking from my power nap, so Angela went in my stead.
Moved most of Mom’s stuff; went to see her in the hospital. Looks like she’ll be out Tues. or Wed.
Getting dressed to go ‘evict’ Mom from her current house/room. She’s moving in with my sister when she gets out of the hospital.

make sure to watch the news
Man, all the fun stuff happens on my days off… Glad the situation ended OK — I wish the same could be said for those poor folks in NC that they allegedly shot. wondersofbilly: there is a hostage standoff in the south parking deck. They are saying to stay away. Just check the news before you head to work because they aren’t letting anyone near the mall. 2 double murder suspects...
"Momwatch" update: Day 4
Spent the day with Mom at the hospital yesterday. She’s recovering well, although she thinks she’s a lot healthier than she actually is. They’re still treating the pneumonia, and once that’s under control, the cardiologists are going to take over and see what happened with her heart. They’re still not 100% sure she had a heart attack, but they’re going to find...
My first 'lolcat' submission on ICHC
(well, more of a LOLbugz submission) Enjoy: moar funny pictures EDIT: yes, this is an original photo. We came home one night last summer to find this cicada molting on our front step.
Mom looks like hell (as one would expect when suffering a heart attack); insists she’s “fine.”
At the hospital ER
Mom’s had another heart attack. Waiting to get in to see her.
FUCK YOU, Big Tobacco.
Update: for anyone reading this who still smokes — PLEASE consider doing whatever it takes to quit; witnessing the long, slow death of my mother is an experience I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
Clarification: Mom seems like she’ll come out of this one OK; by “long, slow death of my...

Your Time Machine?
fzerox: If y’all could use a time machine only once, where would you go? (KEEP IN MIND: you can only use it once, so whatever time you go back to, you would have to relive your life from that point, and could not return to the present) I’ll answer your question with a Weird Al song (YouTube link - you may actually have to click the entry in my tumblr to see it): (this actually answers...
Time Machine
fzerox: If I had a time machine, I would go back to July 4, 2004. Undoubtably, that date probably means very little to all of you, but it was very special for me. That date was the real beginning to my life and I miss it very much. Things were great, and I was at the peak of my happiness. Sure I am better off financially now, but I would gladly take back on all that debt if I could go back and do...
Fish in a can
Speaking of sardines — where does the praise begin? It’s FISH. In a CAN! That’s incredible! When you’re jonesing for some seafood, but you don’t feel like going out or cooking, all you have to do is OPEN THE CAN, and there are FISH RIGHT THERE, READY TO EAT! It doesn’t matter how it tastes. It’s FISH…IN A CAN!
