Watchmen Motion Comic →
This is like an audio comic book — one narrator, using the original artwork from the comic, animated slightly when necessary (like an animatic used in movie development).
This links to the iTunes store; it’s a free video podcast, and it’s highly recommended for those not already familiar with Watchmen to brush up the story before the movie is released next spring.

The feedback on my recent iPhone interface for Tumblr was that it was difficult to set up, so I’ve made it easier. You can now direct users to an iPhone-optimised version of your Tumblr site using a URL like this:

The core of the resulting site is the same as for the self-hosted version, with none of the hassle. If you use it, let...
Hamster report: Day 3
Happy to report he’s been taking meds regularly, eating regularly, and moving around more.
Angela’s feeding him as I type this.
Keep your fingers crossed. :^D
Joker? Bah! Batman's latest foil is...
…a hamster.
No, really.
Angela and I had planned to go see The Dark Knight on Saturday. We had my Mom coming over to watch the kids, we had just enjoyed a nice family lunch at The Purple Cow, and all was going well. Until Angela went to check on one of the hamsters (one was given to us, the other we’re ‘hamster-sitting’ until August), and he looked to be on his...

Very good deconstruction of the cinematic takes on the various scenes shown in the trailer. I like what I see so far.
Starting not to love it so much
I really love my job. But apparently, my bank account doesn’t.
They say, “Do what you love, and the money will follow.” And maybe it will. But not in any way I can foresee at this job, with this company. I can’t see any reason why they’d give me a raise (as opposed to finding someone younger/cheaper), and my ability to supplement my income on the side is extremely...

Watchmen trailer is up →
Great weekend for comic book movie fans. The Dark Knight is opening to universally awesome reviews, and the first official trailer for Watchmen is now up.
Watchmen looks even more incredible than I had imagined. They absolutely NAILED the Doc Manhattan appearance (the glowing blue guy). Now my only hope is that the actual movie is as good as it looks.
I’d be a fool to think that it will...
I Knew I Shoulda Had A Burrito
Sitting here having lunch at the food court prior to coming in to work. In the 2 years I’ve worked here, this is the first (and last) time I’ve eaten at Lotus Express. My taste buds are wondering what they did to deserve this horrible, dry, tasteless ‘food’.
And to think, I drove straight past Chipotle, but decided against waiting in line (their online ordering...

It seems that the geotagging info in my first post was off by about half a mile. Of more concern to me, however, is the new bugginess in the way iPhone 2.0 interacts with text fields on webpages such as Tumblr: every keystroke prompts a refresh to the top of the page, making updates via the Tumblr interface nearly impossible. Crisis of the Spirit
I’ve been experiencing a general sense of malaise lately, and I’ve had some trouble putting my finger on it. For anyone who’s ever had a panic attack, it feels like the moments leading to a panic attack, only it’s been prolonged over the course of the past couple of weeks. Almost to the edge of the breaking point, but never past it. It’s very odd.
But it’s also...

Ah, alas, it appears they’ve noticed the surge in sales and have blocked access. I purchased it and tried to download. The purchase went through, but the download failed with a 403 (access forbidden) error.
Now, let’s just see if they’ll honor the price (doubtful) or refund my purchase promptly.
Thanks for the tip, though, Ryan!

Hello (again).
My high school’s 20-year reunion is coming up next month, and while I originally had planned to attend, I’ve had a bit of a change of plans and I won’t be going. For the record, I didn’t really ‘attend’ the 10-year reunion, either…but I did end up showing up at the hotel to see an old friend and was summarily abducted by actual reunion attendees down to the party...

Kung Fu Panda
The First Non-Pixar Digital Animated Feature Worthy of the Designation ‘Classic’
Part of yesterday’s great family day was going to see Kung Fu Panda at Cinema Cafe. I wasn’t particularly interested in seeing the movie, but the kids really wanted to see it, and we had already seen WALL•E, so when the first attempt at a trip to the beach failed, we decided to go see the...

Some years ago, a family friend who also happens to be in the sign business did an incredibly beautiful and elaborate piece of signage for a prominent local jeweler’s flagship store and got stiffed for the bill.
