I just caught this link over at c|net news, which linked back to the original tech demo above. If you watch both videos, the seam carving technology is very powerful, and will no doubt show up in Photoshop (or another favorite image editor) in short order. The thing is, it’s also pretty scary, if you think about the potential for misuse. What used to take hours of manipulation by a skilled Photoshop expert can now be reduced to minutes by an amateur using this technology. I can see the advent of seam carving starting a huge debate on digital photo authentication.
