A Mac Geek’s Thanks - (a day late, I know)

So, Thanksgiving 2007 has come and gone, and as usual, it went by in a blur. I spent most of the day with my family, a little time trying to sort out my Address Book (which I haven’t organized yet since making the jump to Leopard), and a little time online just goofing around (like any other day).

So I just thought I’d say a little “thanks” to the following links that I’ve found useful as a Mac geek over the years:

  1. Low End Mac - thanks for being a great resource for those of us that may not have the latest and greatest all the time. Dan Knight pours his heart into that site, and I just want him to know that it doesn’t go unnoticed. Thanks, Dan (& staff)!
  2. MacMinute - I started reading Stan Flack’s mac news blog when it was called MacCentral, before Macworld bought it out. Still a daily read. Thanks, Stan!
  3. DealMac - I discovered DealMac not long after I brought home my first Mac, a Power Computing PowerCenterPro 210. The DealSites have saved me literally thousands of dollars over the years. Big thanks to Dan LeGrandpre and staff!
  4. Daring Fireball - John Gruber has provided entertaining and insightful commentary on all things Apple and tech for years. I just started subscribing to his feed this year, and got a great T-shirt out of the deal. Thanks, John!
  5. The Macalope - The Macalope sort of came out of the woodwork, and while I still don’t know what the mythical man-mac-beast looks like from the neck down, I wish he would write quite a bit more, because I always laugh loudly whenever I read a new piece from him. Thanks, Macalope!
  6. Fake Steve Jobs - Always a funny read — not always safe for work. I’m not in a position to say much more than that, but I’ve been entertained. I thought I was going to lose interest after FSJ was ‘outed,’ but thankfully I’ve put that all behind me.
  7. Twitter - Thanks for helping me blog more frequently, even if it’s just 140 characters at a time.
  8. tumblr - Thanks for providing a kick-ass blogging platform that fits my style. I wouldn’t be doing this right now if I hadn’t found it this year.
  9. Apple Inc. - not only for my livelihood, but for consistently putting out amazing products. The iPhone is my new how-did-I-ever-live-without-it device.
Even on the geek side, I’m truly a blessed guy. I get to do something I enjoy every day for a company I really believe in. And I’m surrounded by really great people while I’m doing it. I could certainly do much worse.
